That Moody-Forest Vibe

Trust Chanel to come up with fresh concepts for fashion shows – at Paris Fashion Week for the Fall 2018 collection, Karl Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais into a dark forest, complete with tall, barren trees and lifelike moss. The audience were all seated on benches constructed from roughly sawn tree trunks (how very fitting).

Models walked down the runway through piles of leaves, with the final twelve looks featuring black lace dresses and colourful opera length fingerless gloves (a nod to Lagerfeld’s signature accessory, perhaps?).

The models also paraded a total of eighty fall-ready looks of padded, wool and fur outerwear options and an array of mismatched accessories. Lagerfeld’s muses Carla Bruni, Lily Allen and Keira Knightley were also present front row at the Fall 2018 show. Notably missing were Chanel regulars like Lily Rose-Depp, Cara Delevigne and Pharrell Williams.
